How time flies ... I can't believe it's been this long since I've posted here. I guess I've been busy drawing and posting over at Bit by Bit and so have neglected to keep up with the news on the home front. So. The days are wonderful, the weather right now is gorgeous as it's autumn and cooling down, yet sunny and bright. The pups are well and happy to be going daily to the "dog park" for their runs and socialising with other dogs, and are fine with the regulars though still a bit timid with less familiar faces.
Emerson gave me a HUGE scare on Monday when I went to pat him in the morning and discovered that he couldn't stand up, his limbs just didn't seem to be responding. It was straight to the vet to discover that he'd been bitten by a snake and it took another couple of days while he was at the clinic on anti-venom and drips before we were sure that he'd make it. The vet told us to consider ourselves lucky as a few other felines hadn't made it. He's home now and resting and very annoyed that he's not allowed outdoors for a week.

But as you can see, he's looking remarkably better, which is a huge relief. Mozart was pining away for his brother and is now happy to have him back too.
GREETING CARDS!!
The other event of note is that I'm starting to 'market' myself and am sticking my toe into the waters to see what the response is, by setting up a greeting card store with Greeting Card Universe. The store is called Floating Lemons and I've uploaded some of my illustrations so that they can be printed out and sold as cards to whomever is interested. Go take a peek. It's absolutely brand new and one of you will just have to christen it! I'm trying to ensure that some of the drawings I do from now are more "card-oriented" in order to be able to figure out what kind of cards people prefer to buy. Any comments or feedback would be VERY helpful, as well as advice and tips. The site is at:

Now all I have to do is set up a website and get a portfolio together. By the way, run out and buy the next issue of HOMME which should be out on the newstands soon, as I have three illustrations in it, courtesy of Nick Pinder whom I adore! Loved doing them for him and hope to do more in the future.
So you see, I've been pretty busy. Am still volunteering for the Writers' Centre and it's gearing up as the Byron Bay Writers' Festival approaches, so Za and I have been helping out quite happily. This week we cut down on days there though, as we have visitors: Ulla and Myriam (Amir's mum and sister) are here to have a look at the area, and it's been a pleasure having them around though I'm sure I'm being a terrible host as I haven't had the time to explore with them. Still, they are extremely independent and have done tons since they arrived. It's great to have long yakking sessions with them, especially as they are both creative and talented, and so we share a love for art, in different forms and mediums.
That should be enough news for now ... will definitely start posting again regularly now that I'm slightly more settled as far as my drawing and routine are concerned. Not that there's too much exciting news in my pretty comfortable and slow life, but some of you friends and family out there might just be interested ... see you soon! And don't forget to visit my drawing sites at Bit by Bit and Flickr and let me know what you think.
