30: Obligatory Heliconia drawing!
Obligatory heliconia drawing ... Unfinished.
I really should keep at it and put a lot more work into this drawing. But I’ve spent far too long on it as it is, and find myself with absolutely no energy left, so I’m afraid it will have to remain unfinished. I may return to it some day, but then again perhaps it’s just meant to remain the way it is. I’m constantly agonizing over the right time to put the pencils down and just Stop. I doubt if I’ll ever learn, despite the knowledge that it can be dangerous to overwork a piece -- and end up destroying it. Sometimes it’s best just to leave things the way they are :)
I think this is heliconia rostrata, which grows rampantly within the neat beds of my mother's garden.

Absolutely gobsmackingly lovely!

I agree with E-J: gobsmackingly beautiful! But I can relate to your dilemma.
Miguel reminded me the other day of a story about an elementary school teacher who had been asked to explain the surprisingly large number of successful drawings her young students produced. "Nothing special" she replied, "I just know when to take their papers away."
Wouldn't it be great if we could all have this woman at our side every time we endeavored to draw?

Ah hah so that is what it is called, I saw these lovely 'blossoms' in St Thomas, so bright and solid they did not look real, but they were! Facinating plant and your work looks done to me - Striking.

Yay, a new post. Yay, it's brilliant. And, yes, I have exactly the same problem.
